Chicken parts exports in October this year were 317,212 metric tons valued at $394.91 million compared with a year earlier when exports were 329,280 tons valued at $393.97 million, a 3.7-percent decrease in tonnage and a 0.2-percent rise in dollars.  The top two parts markets (Mexico and China) both registered very measurable increases in both quantity and value.

Ten of the top 15 parts markets had increases in both quantity and value.  Together, these top 15 markets had a 1.4 percent decline in quantity and a 0.5 percent slip in value.  “Other countries” had an 8.3 percent decrease in quantity but a 1.9 percent gain in value.

Chicken parts exports during January-October 2012 totaled 2,972,542 metric tons valued at $3,641.27 million compared with 2,747,701 tons valued at $3,127.35 million, an 8.2-percent increase in quantity and a 16.4-percent increase in value.  Mexico, the top parts market during the first ten months of 2012, had a 22.3-percent increase in quantity and a 44.7-percent increase in value when compared to a year earlier.  On the other hand, next top market Hong Kong experienced a 43.7-percent decrease in quantity and a 45.3- percent decrease in value.  Of the top 15 parts markets, 12 countries had increases in quantity and  13 countries had increases in value.  For the top 15 markets combined, the quantity increased 13.4 percent and the value increased 18.9 percent.  “Other countries” parts exported dropped 2.3 percent in tonnage but increased 10.9 percent in dollars.
