The National Chicken Council (NCC) this week became a member of the Coalition for U.S.-Russia Trade, a broad-based group of U.S. companies and trade associations representing every major sector of the U.S. economy. The coalition supports stronger U.S.-Russian economic ties and, specifically, Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

For U.S. companies to benefit from Russia’s accession to the WTO, which was adopted last week, it will be necessary for Congress to lift the Jackson-Vanik amendment with respect to Russia and authorize the president to extend Permanent Normal Trade Relations to Russia.

NCC and the coalition will continue to work closely with the office of the U.S. Trade Representative, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Congress to help ensure the negotiated access for the chicken industry’s  products to Russia.

More information on the coalition is available at www.usrussiatrade.org.
