USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is releasing underpinning analytical data supporting its “Grain Transportation Report,” published weekly, which details prices, tonnage, and rates for rail, barge, truck and ocean transportation of grain. Interested parties now have access to a breadth of information to support USDA’s ongoing reporting of grain transportation information, including costs of shipping grain commodities, top destinations for U.S. grain exports, topical events affecting transport, and current trends in the business.

USDA said it decided to release the information so the agricultural industry can explore opportunities in the market and enhance the decision-making abilities of grain marketers, agribusiness leaders, and traders.  The data will be updated each Thursday with every new issue of the “Grain Transportation Report.”  The data can be accessed at http://explore.data.gov/catalog/raw/?Dataset-Summary_Agency=Department+of+Agriculture&q=Grain%20Transportation%20Report.
