Representative Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), vice chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, has accepted an invitation to speak at the National Chicken Council Annual Conference in Washington October 5.
“We are honored to have Congressman Goodlatte share with us his views on the challenges facing our country and those facing agriculture and the poultry industry in particular,” said NCC President Mike Brown. “Mr. Goodlatte has been a long-time friend and supporter of the industry.”
Goodlatte represents the sixth congressional district of Virginia, which includes several poultry plants and numerous chicken and turkey farms. He serves on the Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy and Poultry, which has jurisdiction over inspection, marketing and promotion of these commodities as well as animal welfare. He serves also on Agriculture’s Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy and Forestry, with jurisdiction over water conservation and energy production. Goodlatte is also a member of the Judiciary Committee.
