Chicken exports in June this year were 270,185 metric tons valued at $321.10 million compared with 306,437 tons valued at $323.48 million in June 2010, an 11.8-percent decrease in quantity and a 0.7-percent decrease in value.  Broiler parts exports within the overall chicken category were 247,125 tons valued at $280.33 million this June, 14.2 percent below the 287,957 tons in June 2010 and 3.0 percent below the $288.93 million year earlier.  Whole chicken exports increased significantly with a 31.0-percent rise in quantity and a 31.2-percent gain in value.  Prepared chicken and sausages exports were up 11.3 percent in quantity and up 9.5 percent in value when this June is compared with 2010.

Chicken exports during January-June 2011 totaled 1,605,269 metric tons valued at $1,881.08 million compared with 1,608,113 tons valued at $1,744.93 million, less than 2-percent decrease in quantity and a 7.8-percent increase in value.  Broiler parts so far this year were 1,480,759 tons valued at $1,652.92 million, a 1.4-percent decrease in quantity and a 7.0-percent increase in value.  Whole chicken exports experienced good gains with a 23.1-percent increase in quantity and a 26.5-percent increase in value.  Prepared chicken and sausages exports were also up with increases of 6.2 percent and 7.3 percent, for quantity and value, respectively.

Top broiler parts markets in June 2011 were Hong Kong and Mexico.  Parts exports to Hong Kong this June were 41,489 tons valued at $58.45 million, 11.0 percent increase in quantity and 2.4 increase in value when compared with June 2010.  Exports of parts to Mexico were 38,738 tons valued at $36.01 million, up 2.6 percent in quantity and 30.4 percent in value.  China, the 10th largest parts market in June this year, had 7,018 tons valued at $9.02 million, a 30.5-percent increase in quantity and a 13.4-percent increase in value when compared to June 2010.  Russia’s quantity for June 2011 was only 3,418.6 metric tons (the 19th largest market – trailing behind Singapore, Iraq and Jordan) and the export value for June 2011 only reached $3.6 million.
