Broiler parts exports in May this year were 272,574 metric tons valued at $319.66 million compared with 260,119 tons valued at $273.42 million in May last year, a 4.8-percent increase in quantity and a 16.9-percent increase in value. Top parts markets were Hong Kong and Mexico.  Ten of the top 15 parts markets had increases in quantity and 11 had increases in value.  The top 15 markets combined had a 26.3 percent gain in quantity and a 29.6 percent rise in value.  “Other countries” were off 26.4 percent in tonnage and down 7.7 percent in value.

During January-May 2011, broiler parts exports totaled 1,261,733 metric tons valued at $1,410.34 million, 1.7 percent more in quantity and 9.2 percent more in value when compared with the first five months of last year.   Hong Kong and Mexico were the top two markets by a significant margin over other destinations.  Ten of the top 15 markets had increase in both quantity and value during January-May 2011.  Combined results for the top 15 parts markets were a 12.4 percent gain in quantity and a 15.7-percent increase in value.  “Other countries” together fell 16.5 percent in tonnage and slipped 4.7 percent in value
