Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Administrator Al Almanza communicated to NCC President Mike Brown that he was delaying implementation of the agency’s donning and doffing rule until July 17, 2011. NCC had requested that the implementation date be extended because of reports received from NCC member companies that FSIS inspection program personnel were widely inconsistent in their interpretations of the rule. The inconsistency apparently exists not only among different districts, but within the districts.
