USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) this week launched a new market news report on organically-grown poultry and eggs, summarizing  the production, wholesale, and retail featuring for certified organic poultry and eggs across the United States.

Specific production information includes head count and average weight of organic poultry slaughtered under federal inspection, estimated egg production, and organic shell egg inventory for the previous week.  Wholesale data includes sales of organic brown eggs and young chicken parts.  At the retail level, a snapshot of advertized prices for organic brown eggs and chicken parts provide a comparison and contrast with wholesale prices.  Additionally, the report provides the percentage of retail establishments currently featuring organic poultry and egg products by region.
