The 7th annual Spring Chicken Festival will be held on Saturday, April 30, in Gainesville, Georgia. The festival will begin with a parade at 8:30 a.m., followed by a rubber chicken relay race and the state of Georgia’s official chicken cook-off.  Last year over 3,500 pounds of chicken were cooked on site and consumed by the public after judging.  NCC members Columbia Farms, Fieldale Farms and Mar-Jac Poultry donated all the chicken for the festival.  A huge quilt show, including poultry-themed works of art, live music, and children’s activities make the festival fun for the whole family.  Proceeds benefit Keep Hall Beautiful’s tree replacement grant and environmental education programs.
