Darling Ingredients Inc., an NCC allied leader company, announced the sale of the company’s industrial residual business, Terra Renewal Services (TRS), to American Residuals Group LLC. The transaction is valued at approximately $80 million in cash.

Terra Renewal Services focuses on the collection, transport and disposal of non-hazardous, liquid and semi-solid waste streams from the food processing industry.

“From time to time we evaluate the strategic fit of all our businesses,” Randall Stuewe, chairman and CEO of Darling Ingredients, said in a statement. “While TRS was a consistent performing business for us, we made a decision to sell the business allowing for greater focus and attention to our world of growth strategy.”

Darling Ingredients turns animal by-product streams into usable and specialty ingredients, including gelatin, edible fats, feed-grade fats, animal proteins and meals, plasma, pet food ingredients, organic fertilizers, yellow grease, fuel feedstocks, green energy, natural casings and hides. The company also provides environmental services such as grease trap collection and disposal services to the foodservice industry and food processing plants.
