Sanderson Farms on January 3 evacuated its plant in Palestine, Texas after a bomb threat was made during a phone call to the facility.

The call was received in the afternoon and the Palestine Police Department came to the scene.  Plant workers were evacuated while officers conducted a search of the building.  After the police found nothing that would endanger the workers, they were allowed to return to the plant and resume working.  Information regarding a suspect or a motive for the threat has not been released.

Sanderson’s Palestine Plant was constructed in 2013.  Operations at the plant began in February 2015 and a second shift was added in April 2016.
