Staff members from NCC recently visited Miner Elementary School in Northeast Washington, D.C. to talk chicken with a group of 40 5th grade students.Tom Super, NCC senior vice president of communications, Kourtney Determan, NCC communications associate, and Allison Rogers, manager of scientific and regulatory affairs, spoke to the students about how an egg gets from a being a chicken on a farm to the grocery store and into our homes; the importance of food safety; the many different jobs that help to provide safe and high-quality poultry products; and the poultry industry and it’s career possibilities.

The students were presented with some materials and watched videos from www.chickencheck.in. The visit was coordinated through the Washington, D.C. Center for 4-H and Youth Development.
