Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts (R-KS) has announced the following witnesses for a committee hearing next week on avian influenza.  The hearing, entitled “Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza:  The Impact of the U.S. Poultry Sector and Protecting U.S. Flocks,” is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time in room 328A of the Russell Senate Office building.

Witnesses include:

  • David Swayne, laboratory director, Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory, USDA’s Agricultural Research Service

  • Rob Knecht, president, vice president of operations, Michigan Allied Poultry Industries and Konos, Inc.
