Chicken parts exports in September this year were 292,770 metric tons valued at $362.73 million compared with 303,752 tons valued at $370.50 million in September 2012, a 3.6-percent decrease in quantity and a 2.1-percent decrease in value. Mexico was again in September the leading parts market with 45,686 tons valued at $51.02 million, a 4.0-percent increase in tonnage and a 8.2-percent increase in dollars. China, the second largest parts market, took 22,964 tons valued at $29.38 million, a 27.5-percent decrease in quantity and a 19.3-percent increase in value. Russia, the third largest parts destination in September this year, had a 23.5-percent increase in tonnage and a 17.4-percent increase in value.
Ten of the top 15 parts markets had increases in quantity while 13 had increases in value. For the top 15 markets combined, the quantity was up 7.2 percent while the value rose 9.0 percent. Parts exports to “other countries” were off 23.2 percent in quantity and down 22.9 percent in value.

Chicken parts exports during January-September 2013 totaled 2,640,937 metric ons valued at $3,264.40 million, 0.4 percent less than the 2,652,264 tons during the first nine months of last year and 0.7 percent above the $3,243.14 million during January-September 2012. Mexico was clearly the leading parts destination with 461,576 tons valued at $513.78 million, a 19.3-percent increase in quantity and a 21.7-percent increase in value. China was the second largest parts market during the first three-quarters of this year when measured in tonnage while Canada was second in terms of dollar value.
Seven of the top 15 parts markets had increases in both quantity and value during the first nine months of this year. Together, the 15 largest parts countries had a 1.8-percent increase in quantity and a 2.5-percent rise in value. On the other hand, “other countries” experienced a 5.5-percent decrease in quantity and a 3.8-percent decrease in value.
