Neogen Corporation announced this week that it has acquired the assets of Prima Tech Incorporated, a veterinary instrument company based in Kenansville, North Carolina. Prima Tech supplies unique veterinary instruments in the United States and major portions of Europe used by farmers, ranchers, and veterinarians to inject animals, provide topical applications, and to use for oral administration. Other products include animal identification and handling equipment.

Neogen Corporation joined the National Chicken Council in 2012 and recently upgraded its membership to Allied Leader.  Melissa Herbert, director, industry affairs, will serve as the official representative to NCC. For additional information about Neogen, visit www.neogen.com.

“Our two companies have considered the possibility of combination for several years. As the Prima Tech business continued to grow, that company’s management felt the opportunities for continued growth and customer service would be best served through a larger organization such as Neogen,” said Dr. Jason Lilly, Neogen’s vice president of corporate development.

“We built the Prima Tech business one instrument at a time as we asked customers what they needed, went back and engineered prototypes and later finished products. This continued dependence on the voice of the customer has enabled us to build a very nice veterinary instrument business and a group of long-time loyal customers,” said Kim Quinn, Prima Tech owner and founder. “Through those years we always had great respect for Neogen, their products, and their industry reputation. When we felt the business was best joined to a larger firm with more worldwide reach, it was our desire to place our customers and product lines with Neogen.”
