Chicken exports in July this year were 299,469 metric tons valued at $373.13 million compared with 292,722 tons valued at $351.73 million in July 2012, a 2.3-percent increase in quantity and a 6.1-percent increase in value. Mexico again in July was the leading parts market with 52,508 tons valued at $62.90 million, an 18.4-percent increase in tonnage and a 32.4-percent increase in dollars. Russia, the second largest parts market, took 27,120 tons valued at $29.25 million, a 15.7-percent decrease in quantity and a 14.8-percent decrease in value. China, the third largest parts destination in July this year, had a 5.0-percent increase in tonnage and a 13.5-percent increase in value.

Seven of the top 15 parts markets had increases in quantity while nine had increases in value. For the top 15 markets combined, the quantity was up 8.3 percent while the value rose 13.4 percent. Parts exports to “other countries” were off 12.2 percent in quantity and down 11.7 percent in value.

Chicken parts exports during January-July 2013 totaled 2,047,044 metric tons valued at $2,526.65 million, 0.8 percent more than the 2,030,963 tons during the first seven months of last year and 1.4 percent above the $2,490.63 million during January-July 2012.  Mexico was clearly the leading parts destination with 365,972 tons valued at $405.03 million, a 24.8-percent increase in quantity and a 25.5-percent increase in value. China was the second largest parts market so far this year when measured in tonnage while Canada was second in terms of dollar value.

Ten of the top 15 parts markets had increases in both quantity and value during the first seven months of this year. Together, the 15 largest parts countries had a 4.6-percent increase in quantity and a 4.7- percent rise in value. On the other hand, “other countries” experienced a 7.7-percent decrease in quantity and a 6.0-percent decrease in value.
