Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) is slated to speak at the National Chicken Council’s upcoming Annual Conference and will provide an insider’s view from Capitol Hill on important issues that matter to the chicken industry.   The conference is  scheduled October 2-3 in Washington D.C. at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

Senator Coons serves on the Senate Appropriations, Foreign Relations, Judiciary, and Budget Committees.  He was elected to the Senate in 2010 after a decade of successful service in New Castle county government.  A long-time resident of New Castle county, he served four years as New Castle County Council president and six years as new Castle County executive.   Prior to that, he worked as an attoney for Delaware-based W.L. Gore & Associates, one of the 200 largest privately held companies in the United States.  He is a graduate of Amherst Colleage with a B.A. in chemistry and political science and earned his law degree from Yale Law School and a Master’s in Ethics from Yale Divinity School.
