The two USDA officials who were scheduled to travel to China last week to discuss the handling of U.S. chicken to be re-exported to the United States did not make that trip,  USDA said.  Representing USDA in Beijing were to be Al Almanza, administrator of USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), and Dan Englejohn, FSIS’ deputy assistant administrator.  The officials had to cancel the trip because of a scheduling conflict, FSIS said. The Chinese government has been pushing the United States to allow China to import U.S. poultry for processing and then allow the processed poultry to be sent back to the United States.
