Allen Harim announced this week that Dr. Gary E. Gladys is retiring as chief executive officer of the company, effective today. Gladys has held this position since September 2011 when the assets of the former Allen Family Foods, Inc. were purchased by Allen Harim.  Over the last 20 months, he has been instrumental in the restructuring and turnaround of the operations, the company said.  Prior to his promotion as chief executive officer, Gladys served as vice president, live operations of the former Allen’s since May 2005.  The company is in the process of interviewing candidates and a replacement is expected to be selected over the new few weeks.

Allen Harim operates poultry processing facilities in Harbeson, Delaware and Cordova, Maryland; breeding operations in Liberty, North Carolina; along with a hatchery, feedmill, and corporate office in Seaford, Delaware.  It has about 1,400 employees, approximately 270 independent growers, and 25 company-owned farms.   The company also recently announced it is in negotiation to expand its investment in the United States through the acquisition of the former Pinnacle Foods (Vlasic) processing facility in Millsboro, Delaware.
