USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) this week announced a public meeting in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide information and receive public comments on agenda items, as well as draft U.S. positions that will be discussed at the 45th session of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR) to be held in Beijing from May 6-13.

The committee will discuss the following during the meeting:

  • establishment of Codex priority lists of pesticides
  • revision of the risk analysis principles applied by CCPR
  • discussion paper on the guidance to facilitate the establishment of maximum residue limits for pesticides for minor crops and specialty crops
  • matters of interest arising from the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization and other international organizations

The public meeting will be held on March 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the EPA, Room S-7100, One Potomac Yard South, 2777 South Crystal Drive, Arlington, Virginia. Documents and agenda items related to the 45th Session of the CCPR will be accessible at the Codex website  www.codexalimentarius.org.
