Chicken parts exports in August this year were 318,685 metric tons valued at $383.27 million compared with year earlier when exports were 326,356 tons valued at $371.79 million, a 2.4-percent decrease in tonnage but a 3.1-percent increase in dollars.  The top four parts markets (Mexico, China, Russia, and Cuba) all registered increases in both quantity and value.  Eleven of the top 15 parts markets had increases in both quantity and value.  Together, these top 15 markets had a 5.0-percent decrease in quantity and a 0.8-percent decline in value.  On the other hand, “other countries” had a 4.8-percent increase in quantity and a 14.3- percent increase in value.

Chicken parts exports during January-August 2012 totaled 2,351,959 metric tons valued at $2,876.23 million compared with 2,116,497 tons valued at $2,380.15 million, an 11.1-percent increase in quantity and a 20.8-percent increase in value.  Mexico, the top parts market during the first eight months this year, had a 19.8-percent increase in quantity and a 43.5-percent increase in value when compared to a year earlier.  Next top market Hong Kong experienced a 35.0-percent decrease in quantity and a 36.3- percent decrease in value.  Of the top 15 parts markets, eleven countries had increases in quantity and 13 countries had increases in value.  For the top 15 markets combined, the quantity increased 19.1 percent and the value increased 26.1 percent.  “Other countries” parts exported dropped 4.4 percent in tonnage but increased 9.5 percent in dollars.
