Total chicken parts exports to all markets were especially strong in April 2012 with the monthly performance one of the best yet this year.  Chicken parts to all destinations this April were 293,484 metric tons valued at $370.12 million, 24.1 percent ahead of the 236,429 tons in April 2011 and 33.2 percent above the $277.81 million a year earlier.  Parts to just the top 15 countries increased 34.0 percent in quantity and 41.8 percent in value.  “Other countries” were up 5.4 percent in quantity and up 15.2 percent in value.

Mexico was the top parts market in April registering 38,908 tons valued at $45.03 million, an increase of 28.4 percent for quantity and 52.2 percent for value.  Parts to Hong Kong for the fourth month of this year were 35,852 tons valued at $50.66 million, a loss of 18.8 percent in quantity and a decrease of 18.1 percent in value.  Russia returned to be one of the top three parts markets in April with 28,354 tons valued at $31.87 million, a 140.9-percent increase in quantity and a 146.5-percent increase in value over April 2011.  Twelve of the top 15 parts markets had increases in quantity in April 2012 while 13 countries experienced increases in value.

The total value of parts to all markets during January-April 2012 were 1,160,506 metric tons valued at $1,418.24, an increase of 20.1 percent for quantity and an increase of 33.8 percent for value.  Hong Kong and Mexico were the two leading markets, although Hong Kong slipped 6.8 percent in quantity and was down 9.8 percent in value when compared with a year earlier.  Of the top 15 parts countries, 12 had increases in quantity during January-April 2012 while 13 had increases in value.  “Other countries” combined for a 9.4 percent increase in quantity and a 28.9 percent increase in value.
