Safeway Inc. named Robert Edwards as its new president, filling a position left vacant after the retirement of longtime executive Tom Keller. Edwards, 56, has served as the grocery chain’s chief financial officer and executive vice president  since 2004.  He will hold both posts until the company identifies a new CFO to replace him.  Edwards previously served as CFO for Imation Corporation, an information-technology company and at Santa Fe Southern Pacific Corporation and its affiliates.
