The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published on October 21, 2011 a proposed rule in the Federal Register entitled “National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) Reporting Rule.” In the initial publication, comments on the proposal were to be submitted to EPA by December 20, allowing for a 60-day public comment period.  However, EPA has received several requests for additional time to submit comments, including he National Chicken Council.  EPA has agreed to extend the public comment period for an additional 30 days, which will now end on January 19, 2012, and NCC will be filing comments on the proposed rule.
