President Obama has announced his intention to nominate Michael T. Scuse to be USDA’s under secretary of agriculture for farm and foreign agricultural services. Scuse has been the deputy under secretary since 2009 and was designated the acting under secretary in January this year. Earlier in his career, he served as secretary of agriculture in Delaware, chairman of the USDA Farm Services Agency’s Delaware State Committee, and was both president and vice president of the Northeast Association of State Departments of Agriculture.  When and if Congress will act upon the nomination is not known.
