USDA’s Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Program Ed Avalos has announced that Dr. Gregory Parham has replaced Cindy Smith as administrator of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). Smith has moved to a new position within APHIS as an advisor on government, academic, and industry partnerships. Parham previously served as associate administrator of APHIS specializing in international and trade activities. Prior to taking that position in 2009, he served as chief information officer at APHIS. He has a total of 31 years in the federal government including serving as deputy administrator for marketing and regulatory programs–business services.
